Kellogg Center Welcomes Interim Director Sheryl Ball The David H. Kellogg Center for Philosophy, Politics, and Economics is pleased to welcome Sheryl Ball, Professor of Economics and PPE Affiliated Faculty member, as she begins her service as Interim Director for the Center. Professor Ball brings a wealth of leadership experience to this role, including service as Associate Dean in the College of Science and as Associate Department Head in Economics. She earned her Ph.D. in Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences from Northwestern University and has built a distinguished career at Virginia Tech marked by a strong commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship, innovative teaching, and program development. Building on this experience, Professor Ball’s research and leadership embodies the Center’s commitment to interdisciplinary research and the careful study of how institutions shape human behavior. Integrating insights from philosophy, political science, and economics, her work reflects the collaborative spirit of PPE while examining how individuals make decisions within complex social, political, and economic environments. Through experimental and empirical research, she investigates how people respond to uncertainty, cooperate with others, evaluate fairness, and navigate complex social and economic choices.
