Emma Planinc Speaks on Regenerative Politics Emma Planinc, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame, will give a talk with the title “Regenerative Politics.” The talk will take place on February 21, 2024, from 4-5:30pm in the Owens Ballroom (Owens Hall). The talk is tailored to appeal to both faculty and students, with plenty of time for discussion and interaction with the guest speaker. The talk will be followed by a public reception. You are cordially invited to attend. Here is the abstract of the talk: Liberal democracies today are under increasing attack. Critics on both the left and the right reject our commitment to rights, and want instead to see alternative, regenerated futures for human beings. How did we get to this modern landscape in which regenerative self-creation is seen as antithetical to a rights-based regime, and is there a way through this political impasse? If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please contact Holly Belcher (hollymb2@nullvt.edu) at least ten business days before the event.
