PPE Events Fall 2021

This semester, the Kellogg Center for Philosophy, Politics, and Economics will organize the following main events and activities.

PPE MEET AND GREET. The Kellogg Center will hold its annual Meet and Greet event on September 7, 2021, from 3:30-4:30pm. Please join us for an informal reception (free food) to learn more about the Kellogg Center, its faculty, students, and activities this year. The event will take place at the Kellogg Center’s new location (820 University City Blvd, free parking). Check out our new offices!

PPE READING GROUP. The PPE Reading Group will meet every other week during the semester to discuss Anne Case and Angus Deaton’s award-winning book, Deaths of Despair and the Future of Capitalism (2020).We will provide free copies of the book. Here is more information and instructions on how to sign up for the reading group.

PPE RESEARCH SPEAKER SERIES. The Kellogg Center will host two research talks this semester. On September 29, 2021 (4-5:30pm), Sahar Heydari Fard from UNC-Chapel Hill will give a talk with the title “Social Networks and Social Change.” On November 17, 2021 (4-5:30pm), Jaivir Singh, Professor at the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance at Jawaharlal University (currently a Fulbright-Nehru Senior Research Fellow) will give a talk on “Investigating Separation of Powers as a Mechanism of Constitutional Governance.” The talks are tailored to appeal to both faculty and students and provides time for discussion and interaction with the guest speaker.

PPE RESEARCH FELLOW PANEL. At this research fellow panel, recent PPE fellows Byron Tsang, Maria Snegovaya, and Binio Binev will discuss their work on the socioeconomic effects of the pandemic, economic policies, and democracy. Please join us for this informal, yet intellectually rich discussion on November 3, 2021, from 4-5:30pm.
